Assalamu Alaikum My official name is Mirza Azim Beg, but I like to be called Br. Beg. I am the Principal of Charlotte Islamic Academy. I also teach some classes.. This is my tenth year at Charlotte Islamic Academy. I have been teaching high school mathematics for the last sixty years with licenses in Math, Science, and School Administration.
I finished my high school at the age of 12 and completed my Bachelor’s at the age of 17. I am a Gold Medalist in B. Ed, meaning that I was number one in the University for B. Ed exam. I have three university degrees: B. Sc., Physics & Mathematics; Karachi University, Karachi, Pakistan B.Ed., Teaching of Science & Teaching of Math; Karachi University, Karachi, Pakistan; M.A. School Administration; University of Detroit, Michigan. In addition to teaching 12 years in Pakistan (including being Headmaster for three years), I taught for 27 years in two top-tier Catholic High Schools in Michigan and seven years at Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools. I was Principal at Huda School & Montessori (Franklin, Michigan) for four years, just before moving to Charlotte in 2004. Alhamdulillah, I have been very successful in my profession all along. My students, from all places I worked, have achieved great successes and I hope to do the same at Charlotte Islamic Academy. Among my students, there have been doctors, engineers, professors, teachers, businessmen, congressmen (in Michigan), and even an Under Secretary at the Department of Labor in the H. W. Bush’s cabinet! I pray that Allah (SWT) helps me inspire and motivate students at CIA to become high professional and Great Muslims, Insha Allah. My teaching philosophy has many facets, the most important one: We do work the first day, the last day, and all days in between! Remember: If you fail to prepare, you prepare to fail.
